The 2014 International Safety Awards, judged by the British Safety Council, have just been announced and UKDN Waterflow has again won an award, clearly demonstrating our commitment to the health, safety and well-being of our workforce.
The British Safety Council works with the winning organisations to share good practices and help publicise the benefits of competent, sensible and proportionate health and safety management.
The International Safety Awards submission comprises twelve key questions about health and safety management which cumulatively make up a 6000 word response
UKDN Waterflow’s submission was marked by one of four independent adjudicators appointed and trained by the British Safety Council.
The independent adjudicators are senior health and safety professionals in their respective organisations and senior examiners for the British Safety Council’s awarding body. In order to prevent any possible conflict of interest, the adjudicators do not have sight of any audit reports or previous award applications or scores. The onus is on applicants to convince the adjudicator that their particular site or business unit deserves an International Safety Award based on its commitment to health and safety management during 2013.
A rigorous standardisation process ensures that each adjudicator applies the marking scheme in a consistent manner so that all applications for an International Safety Award are marked to the same standard.
UKDN Waterflow has consistently placed Health and Safety at the top of the agenda, and has a dedicated HSQE team (Health, Safety, Quality and Environment), headed up by James Taylor, in place to ensure that the company works safely within households, businesses, and on major projects involving water, wastewater, drainage and infrastructure UKDN Waterflow works within the Commercial & Industrial, Water and Sewerage, Rail & Infrstructure, and Insurance & Household sectors.
The latest International Safety Awards win adds to multiple British Safety Awards, and RoSPA Occupational Safety awards for the business stretching back to 2004.
