Mended water pipe and rubble removed – brilliant!
Care worker Alan Westall could not have been happier. Not only did UKDN Waterflow (LG) mend his water pipe – our engineers also took away his garden waste.
The soil in the garden at Mr Westall’s terraced house in Kirton, Suffolk, had contained a lot of bricks and broken concrete, left by a previous owner.
When UKDN Waterflow (LG) water supply engineers fixed a broken water pipe they took away a pile of the waste material with them.
Mr Westall said: “I hadn’t expected them to do that for me, but they said it was no bother at all. It was a very welcomed gesture, and was a great help.”
When the pressure of Mr Westall’s water supply suddenly dipped, he realised he had a problem. He alerted his insurance company, which allocated UKDN Waterflow (LG) to investigate the cause.
Mr Westall said: “The service was very efficient. I had a call from an incredibly nice lady at UKDN Waterflow (LG) who wanted to make sure everything was properly organised for me. She took time to have a good chat with me, to explain what I could expect to happen.
“The work team came out the next day, so it all happened very quickly. They were very diligent and helpful. They spent some time working out where the problem was, and then dug a hole to get to the pipe.”
In an operation that took most of the day, the broken section of pipe was excavated and replaced. As the garden soil contained so much rubble, and the pipe was quite deep underground, it was not the easiest of tasks.
Mr Westall said: “What was a big relief for me was that everything went so smoothly. I have never had to claim on my home insurance before, and it was so good to find that, when I did have to, that I got such a professional response.”
