The UKDN Waterflow Dragon boat crew did spectacularly well on their first outing at the event at Bewl Water in Kent this Autumn. It was a great family day out with vocal support from around 60 fellow colleagues, family and friends.
The twenty Dragonistas won all of their three heats and overall came 10th out of 45 teams – a fantastic effort considering a number of teams came with professional trainers. Most of our Dragon boat crews ‘training’ had consisted of a pie and a pint down the pub!
The £2000 raised went to the Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital. Great Ormond Street Hospital provides inspirational and world-class care to hundreds of children every day.
Next year there are plans to reach the final, have two teams competing, and raise even more money.
