The High Speed 2 Northern Hub Dinner in Manchester is being sponsored by UKDN Waterflow, the rail drainage specialist contractor.

The event,  being held in Manchester on 6th November 2014, will bring together some of the most influential decision makers within business, government and the UK rail industry responsible for delivering the Northern Hub and High Speed 2 to the north of England.

The £600m Northern Hub, scheduled for completion in 2019 will provide capacity for over 44million passengers a year and 700 more trains each day.

Gary Webb,  from UKDN Waterflow commented “UKDN Waterflow’s experience with Crossrail in London and with the wider Network Rail operation means we are well placed to help ensure this project is a real success. High Speed 2 will revolutionise Britain’s railways, create thousands of jobs, bring major cities closer together, generate investment in neglected areas and provide passengers with an unprecedented travel experience. High Speed 2 will transform Britain’s capacity, connectivity, trains, passenger experiences and travel sustainability while driving growth and regeneration. We’re very happy to support this important gathering.”

The design of High Speed 2  includes various drainage measures to protect existing assets and infrastructure, and control the volume and quality of water run-off from the rail corridor, taking into account projected climate change impacts. These measures will help to avoid any increase in flood risk “

As a specialist rail drainage contractor UKDN Waterflow has unrivalled experience in developing innovative cost-effective solutions to even the most problematic of issues. The company’s innovative Cured In Place Pipe (CIPP) UV liner capability has revolutionised protection of sewers and culverts, and it’s award winning Ham sewer project, which saw Crossrail Tunnel Boring machines (TBMs) pass just 500mm from East London’s strategically important Ham sewer, demonstrate how UKDN Waterflow can help protect assets whilst major construction takes place.

With speakers such as Alison Munro , High Speed 2’s Chief Executive,  and Dyan Crowther, Managing Director LNW Route Network Rail, speaking, the event promises to create a platform from which the Northern Hub will be an outstanding success.

Roy Rowlands, from Rail Technology Magazine, who will be hosting High Speed 2 The Northern Hub Dinner commented: “I am really excited to welcome on board UKDN Waterflow as an associate sponsor of this prestigious event (a first for the North West) I have no doubt that their experience with Crossrail can only be of significant benefit to the Northern Hub and HS2.”
